1. Pre-Production

Briefing

The process begins with a mini workshop with one of our scriptwriters who will ask a tonne of questions about your business and offering.

The goal of this meeting is to deeply understand the purpose of the video, the vibe of the video, the message you want to get across and finally, brainstorm some starting ideas for the video.

Concepting

Following this meeting, we'll go away and begin ideating 3 to 4 concepts for your video. We make sure every concept is engaging and clever, but most importantly is a great vehicle to get your message across clearly.

Scripting

Once you have chosen your favourite concept we begin building it out fully by going away and writing the script.

Once written we jump into a meeting with you where we do a full dramatised reading and then go through it line by line and co-edit it with you. When you are 100% happy with the script we move to the final step - storyboarding.

Storyboarding

The storyboard stage is all about putting visuals to the script. It allows us to plan out the shots, the visual comedy and cool transitions well before we even touch a camera. When it's ready, we'll jump into a meeting with you and run you through the whole thing so you know exactly what the video will look like.

We include our storyboard artist in this meeting so if you want to make any changes we can re-draw them for you right there live on the call. This stage is pretty fun.

2. Production

Find Talent

First, we need to find the talent for your video.

We will curate a selection of talent we think will fit the role, get them to send through some self-tapes for you to view and decide who you like best.

Find a Location

Next, we need to find the shoot location(s). Sometimes this might be as simple as the client’s office or hiring a film studio, or it might be as complex as finding the perfect beach and securing permits.

But whatever it is, we will take care of the whole process.

Prop-making/sourcing

Maybe you need a bed covered in soft toys, a door in the middle of a field, or two tonnes of sand to make a fake beach (all very real things we have done). These things don’t just happen by themselves. They are the work of our clever Art Directors who will spend days before the shoot finding and building all the props needed to make your video look like a million bucks.

Shoot Day

After all the planning and all the prep, the rubber finally meets the road on the Shoot Day!

Now, ODV shoot days are two things - intense, but fun. Intense because there are often a lot of shots we have to get. But fun because at the start of the day, you have nothing but as a team, everyone works together to film an entire video (usually in a single day).

Depending on the package you choose, the team on set could be as small as two people or as large as a 15+ crew according to your budget and needs.

3. Post-Production

Editing

The very next day, the director sits down with the editor and begins assembling all the best takes from the shoot day. Then, once we have a rough edit we begin fine-tuning to find the video’s flow and pacing.

This is more art than science, but when done right the result is a video that people can’t stop watching.

Once we are happy with the cut, the director will jump on a call to take you through the edited video and get your final feedback on it.

VFX and Motion Graphics

The video is then sent to our graphics team where they will add in all the needed graphics, animation, or full on visual effects while making sure they all reflect the style and colours of your brand.

Colour grading

After you've signed off the edited video, we complete one of the final pieces of the puzzle - colour grading. We tend to leave the colour wizards to their work but trust us, this step will make your video look *chef's kiss*.

Delivery

Once it is all complete, we will send you an email with a link where you can view and download your video. Remember to bring the popcorn!

Social state of mind

Our video packages are designed with marketers in mind, so you don't have to fret about making further edits to your video after it's delivered. Whether you need different ratios, cutdowns, or captions on your video, we'll make sure you have everything you need for a kick-ass video marketing campaign!

Don’t worry, we’ll do the heavy lifting for you and find a great actor to front your video. Our producers are skilled at liaising with talent agencies and we also have our own pool of professional actors and voice-over artists who will seriously level-up your video!

Professional talent is always worth the extra cost, but if you want internal staff to front your video, rest assured that our directors are skilled at getting the best performance out of anyone who has the confidence and willingness to give it a crack.
