Founders and brothers, Matt and Jacob, started working together a decade ago. From a love of remote controlled helicopters, to the launch of an online toy store and a YouTube channel that gathered millions of views - fast forward a decade and they now run One Day Video, a video production company known for its fast-paced and eye-catching videos.
The ODV brand was created in 2019 to solve the problems many companies face when it comes to the creation of video content - death by a thousand edits. No thank you! Following a tight process and managed by masterful creatives, all our videos are produced in a surprisingly short time frame.
To make our clients sockless (aka blow their socks off).
We’ll make you a video people will want to watch to the very end.

After building a successful online toy store with his brother Jacob as teenagers, Matt went to film school and entered a production house working on some of New Zealand’s biggest TV commercials. In 2019, he co-launched the production company One Day Video and in those early days, filmed and edited everything himself. Now Matt’s the Creative Director and makes sure every video contains that iconic ODV spark.
While studying at Uni, Jacob started a YouTube channel which eventually took him around the world making videos for some top design companies. During this time he saw a gap in the market for fast, quality video production, so after returning home, he jumped on it and started up One Day Video with Matt. Now, Jacob heads up the scriptwriting department and shares insider video production tips on YouTube.
Entrepreneurship has always run thick through Rodney’s veins – from launching a swimwear store in the 70’s called Blue Dude, to running a business consultancy where he coached over 500 senior leaders across the country. As a founder of One Day Video, Rodney is passionate about establishing a clear vision of purpose and organisational effectiveness for the growth of ODV.
Esther studied communications because it was the only degree that recognised a love of talking as a genuine career path. Esther’s experience is a unique combination of digital marketing and public relations which gives her social strategy and copywriting skills a powerful edge. Esther is responsible for ODV’s ubiquitous marketing while also running the digital marketing arm of the business, working with clients to make sure their videos are seen by everyone who matters to them.
After spending 14 years in professional sport, Freyja moved towards producing sports documentaries, and in 2021, she found her way to the ODV family. Being the Production Manager allows Freyja to work closely with our awesome contractors and provides the link between them and our clients to build the kick ass videos we're so proud of. Along with producing, Freyja is still out there hitting the trails and lining up races to burn off her competitive energy!
Ben’s passion lies in storytelling. He’s happiest while creating documentaries for companies like Greenpeace in Aotearoa and sharing stories about organisations doing meaningful work. At One Day Video, Ben brings his storytelling skills to the fore as a director, creating the visions behind many of our videos and bringing them to life.
Josh is an Auckland-based director of photography, videographer, and editor. Adrian is always creating! He's made plays, ads, award-nominated musicals, web shows, music videos and TV. He’s been a director, and also played Hamlet to critical acclaim. Right now he’s dabbling in comedy rap music. Adrian’s broad experience in the creative sector gives him an unusual sense of the big picture and he pours this knowledge into everything he writes or directs at ODV.
Dan had a slightly strange path to becoming a video editor. He studied and worked as a surveyor, then travelled for a year and suddenly realised he was desperate for a creative outlet in his work. So Dan went to film school to study post production. Since then he hasn't looked back and loves being able to influence and craft a story during the edit, which he makes the most of at One Day Video. He also loves surfing and a good Mexican meal.
Aidan has been shooting for around 8 years now and loves every second of it. He’s particularly interested in lighting and bettering his framework to create a more pleasing image. He loves being thrown a blank canvas and then using angles and light to elevate it. Working with people who have never experienced film before is super exciting and he enjoys taking them on the journey to their final product!
